About Dorcas Abimaje
Meet Your Provider
The Person Behind the Practice.
Trusted Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Longmeadow, MA, Dorcas Abimaje offers compassionate mental health care rooted in both clinical expertise and genuine understanding. While there are many psychiatric providers in Massachusetts, it is much harder to find one who brings professional experience together with a personal understanding of what it can feel like to sit on the other side of the desk.
Dorcas is a Trusted Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Longmeadow who came to psychiatric care not only through education, training, and clinical practice, but also through a real appreciation of the mental health journey. That perspective shapes the way she cares for each individual, creating a space where patients feel respected, heard, and supported.
If you have ever wondered whether a provider will truly understand what you are going through, you are not alone. At BeaconView Psychiatry, Dorcas Abimaje creates a welcoming environment where compassionate, personalized care begins with listening.

Why I Do This Work
Where This Work Comes From.
My connection to mental health is personal. I have a genuine understanding of what it means to navigate mental health challenges, and that experience never leaves the room when I’m with a patient. It’s not something I lead with, but it’s part of why I take this work as seriously as I do, and why I’m not willing to do it carelessly.
When I was training and building my clinical experience, I kept noticing a gap between what good psychiatric care could look like and what many patients were actually receiving. Rushed evaluations. Fragmented follow-up. Providers who didn’t know them. I knew I wanted to build something different. Something that felt less like a system processing people and more like a practice genuinely invested in them.
“Whatever you bring to our first appointment, whatever you’ve been carrying, however long you’ve been carrying it, however hard it’s been to say out loud, I won’t judge you for it. Not ever. That’s a promise I make to every patient I see.” — Dorcas Abimaje,Trusted Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Longmeadow, MA, PMHNP-BC, Founder of BeaconView Psychiatry
After earning her Master’s Degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health from Frontier Nursing University, Dorcas spent over nine years building clinical experience across a range of psychiatric settings and patient populations. She opened BeaconView in Longmeadow because this community deserves access to consistent, quality outpatient psychiatric care, and because she wanted to be the provider she would have wanted for the people in her own life.
How I Work
My Approach to Care.
A good psychiatric care isn’t a formula. It’s a relationship built on trust, honesty, and genuine attention. Here’s what that looks like in practice at BeaconView:
Why BeaconView
What’s Different About the Care I Provide?
You see the same provider every time.
BeaconView is a solo practice. There’s no rotating roster of mid-levels, no different face every time you call, no having to re-explain your history from scratch. When you book an appointment, you see me, and I know you, your history, your medications, and where you’ve been.
Thorough evaluations, not 15-minute slots.
Initial evaluations are a full 60 minutes. That’s not the norm in outpatient psychiatry, but it matters. Getting the diagnosis right from the beginning, really understanding what’s happening, makes every subsequent appointment more useful and reduces the wrong turns with medications.
Telehealth that works as well as in-person.
I built BeaconView with telehealth as a first-class option from day one, not an afterthought. Some patients prefer it because leaving the house is genuinely hard on certain days. Others appreciate the flexibility. Either way, the quality of evaluation and ongoing care is exactly the same, and I’m available to patients anywhere in Massachusetts.
Transparent pricing, no surprises.
I verify your insurance before your first appointment so you know what to expect before you walk in. Mental health care is stressful enough without financial uncertainty on top of it.
I built this because I believe in it.
I didn’t open BeaconView because it was the easiest path. I opened it because I wanted to build the kind of practice that provides the care people actually deserve, unhurried, consistent, genuinely invested in outcomes. That intention shapes every decision about how BeaconView operates
